Tree Work, Tree Surgery and Stump Grinding in Dorking
Our Commitment to Health and Safety

At LJN Tree Surgery, the health, safety and welfare of our personnel, clients and the public is our top priority. Tasks such as stump grinding, site clearance, hedge cutting, stump removal and general tree works can be dangerous at times, carrying with it a potential risk of personal injury and property damage. That is why whenever we carry out any tree surgery job around Dorking or the surrounding areas, we do so with strict adherence to the relevant Health and Safety Regulations.

All our staff have City & Guilds training and hold LANTRA and NPTC certifications, which help us complete all our work per the current British Standard 3998. To help us consistently achieve high-quality results with all our services and comply with the current HSE, we follow all guidelines and regulations.

Some of these include:

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

To meet the requirements in Section 2 (3) of this regulation, LJN Ltd takes every reasonable measure to guarantee the health and safety of our employees and clients when performing stump removals, site clearances and general tree surgery tasks.

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002

Certain tree works, such as stump grinding and hedge cutting, can expose our operatives to harmful substances. Breathing in sawdust or diesel fumes when using machinery during certain tasks may result in health issues. That is why we take the necessary steps to reduce the impact of such substances.

Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992

Whether operating stump grinding machinery to carry out stump removals, chainsaws for tree felling or heavy machinery for site clearance projects, our company always provides our staff with the appropriate safety gear. Items such as ear defenders, gloves, helmets, visors or safety goggles and boots help to reduce the risk of personal injury to our personnel when undertaking work throughout Dorking.

Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)

On occasion, we may require climbing, lifting and lowering equipment to help us with heavy loads or to enable our staff to undertake tree works at height. Whether using ropes and anchor points, karabiners, harnesses, rigging, cranes, tree spades, or mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), we plan and supervise all lifting operations to make sure our staff carry them out safely and responsibly.

Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)

We often use powerful and potentially dangerous machinery, whether for stump grinding, hedge cutting, stump removals, site clearances, tree felling, or pruning. At LJN Ltd, our staff undergo regular training to ensure that they remain up to date with the latest tree surgery techniques and technologies. This enables them to handle a wide range of equipment safely and professionally.

Work at Height Regulations 2005

When undertaking certain tree surgery tasks in the Dorking area, such as felling a particularly tall tree, we use rigging, ladders and harnesses, which allow us to safely ascend a tree. Thanks to our training, we have the skill to operate chainsaws and other such equipment safely.
